Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to improve mood, physical well being and help with healing. Some dismiss the benefits of breathing in these fragrant delights, but at CoraLay, we believe. Connecting with nature is part of our DNA, so we carefully work to create blends that are pleasing to smell and beneficial to use.
According to aromatheraphy.com, the origin of using plant-based essential oils is unknown. However, early Egyptians are credited with distilling the spicier scents to embalm the dead; Greek medicine man Hippocrates used essential oils for a variety of healing purposes; and a French chemist is credited with creating the term, aromatherapy, after his discovery that lavender could help cure burns.
Hmmm, still not a believer. Well, take a look at a few of the benefits of some of our favorite essential oils and see if you don’t feel better after a few whiffs.
Lavender – often the go-to scent for relaxing times, lavender is also believed to be a pain reliever and skin disinfectant
Clary Sage – among its many benefits, clary sage is thought to boost self confidence and regulate hormones but is not recommended for pregnant women
Peppermint – used to aid in digestion, relieve indigestion and help with respiratory problems
Orange – obtained from the peels of oranges, this essential oil is believed to help with muscle spasms, especially coughs, be an anti-inflammatory and act as a mild aphrodisiac
And by the way, these essential oils are some of the primary ingredients in some of our Signature collection hand-crafted soy candles and fragrant diffusers.

Today, we light a candle for anticipation...awareness, anxiety, excitement.
Our team is experiencing all those feelings as we prepare for Valentine's Day shipments, a new product launch and weekend libations with friends;-).
Anticipation can help us focus or make us daydream. It's that healthy energy that perfectly mixes expectancy and impatience.
So as we pack orders, we're anticipating all the fantastic things that come with Fridays and the celebrations that will happen by candlelight.
